Charmaine & Dan

Wedding Date: 15.12.23

Ceremony Location: Love Garden @ Terrara House

Reception Location: Chester’s @ Terrara House

How did you and your partner meet?

Childhood sweethearts. Charmaine picked Daniel up at the ripe age of 13.

How did you or partner propose?

Daniel asked for a blessing from Charmaine’s family then organised with them to go on a trip to the Philippines to propose in the same church (and same spot) where her Grandma (Mey) got married to her grandfather Dey. She, and her sister were extremely close to Mey and she was the matriarch of the family. We lost her a few years ago and it was very devastating but a very thoughtful proposal by Daniel, to feel closer to her. The daughters and grandkids had a rotating roster for caring for Mey in her last years and Daniel would often accompany Charmaine to look after Mey, including sleep over!

What was your favourite part of your ceremony?

Seeing each other. Seeing everyone we love there to witness our love. Chaplain Gail wrapping our hands together and blessing us. Getting married to the best person I know!

What did you love about your reception?

Everyone genuinely had the best time partying. The speeches were perfect, the dances were lovely, everyone was happy. Dan going over the top with the smoke machine and Annie slyly turning it off so it wouldn’t set off the fire alarm (again). The sparkle exit then jump into the pool to end the night. Cannot fault anything! We also worked with such an amazing crew that helped realise our dream day; the best team at Terrara, lead by the magnificent Annie, our unbelievably amazing Storytellers wedding collective duo Liana + Nate, the awesome crew at Bumpy who fed us while also dropping it low on the D-floor, the stunning flowers by Jade - Under the Willow Floral Design. The girls looked stunning because of Heera. Our DJ Yin breaking it down on the dance floor. Everyone just showing up and giving us all of the love and support was amazing. You could not wipe the smiles off our faces the entire time we were there. It honestly was an incredible time.

What is your advice for any future couples planning their wedding?

Enjoy yourselves! I was genuinely surprised when I heard comments about how surprisingly nice it was to have a couple so chill and happy. No point in stressing the small stuff. Stay organised and keep communicating with your team and it will sort itself out. But also to remember it’s a day where you’re marrying the person that is meant to be the love of your life – celebrate that you’ve found it and that you’re surrounded by people that love your love.
