Monica & Jed

How did you and your partner meet?

We met at our first ever university party in the faithful Salisbury Bar, it took some convincing but Mon finally agreed to go on a coffee date months later. We’ve been inseparable since.

How did you or partner propose?

The original plan was meant to be in Santorini at the end of our european holiday however, COVID 19 put a stop to that. A secluded picnic at North Head overlooking the Sydney Harbour on a perfect sunny day was the best next thing! Jed’s not the best at keeping secrets but somehow managed to pull off a surprise party that night.

Why did you choose to have your wedding at Terrara House?

Being able to sleep onsite over a few days was really important to us. When COVID hit, we had to rethink our wedding plans and at first we just wanted a beautiful house that both our immediate families could stay in. However, when we visited Terrara for the first time, we brought both our mums and knew straight away that we were going to have to share this place with more than just our immediate families. The staff at Terrara House were amazing, our guests still comment on how accommodating and thoughtful Kristy and the extended team were to us.

What was your menu on the night?

We started off the cocktail hour with roaming canapes + a bunch of Jim Wild Oyster’s on ice. We had a shared banquet style menu which included an entree of Kingfish ceviche and heirloom tomato straticello, mains of lamb shoulder, hot smoked salmon, roasted cauliflower, crispy potatoes and a citrus salad. We finished off the night with a delicious sticky date pudding, lemon curd meringue and wedding cake for dessert.

What was your favourite part of your ceremony? It’s hard to pick just one, but having Jed’s Grandpa officiate the ceremony was really special. We were so glad he was able to be a part of our day in such a meaningful way. We also ended up getting married a little later than anticipated, we had a last minute bridesmaid dress mishap, but thanks to Mon’s dad, Jed’s grandma and a trusty sewing kit we made it to the altar just after 4pm, during our ceremony we had flocks of white cockatoo’s fly over - they looked like white doves and stole the show!

What did you love about your reception?

The atmosphere and an incredible sunset were magical but I think going with our gut and getting married in the Mirror Garden and turning the Chess board into an epic dancefloor was our favourite thing!

How many people attended your wedding?

48 people

What is your advice for any future couples planning their wedding?

Definitely do it your way! Your wedding is all about celebrating you and your partner’s love for each other, so as long as you are prioritising the things that are important to you, that's the main thing! The best decision we made (thanks COVID) was to have a small wedding, this really helped keep the stress levels down.
