Jacque & Jon

How did you and your partner meet?

We met at a Halloween house party at a mutual friend’s party in Bondi.

How did you or partner propose?

Jonathan proposed on December 19, 2020, during a picnic at Winifred Falls in the Royal National Park.

Why did you choose to have your wedding at Terrara House?

We both wanted a wedding outside of Sydney. We wanted something special, a mini getaway to celebrate with family and friends for a weekend away. When we came across Terrara House online, we knew it was special. After a road trip down the coast to see the estate in person, we knew we wanted to celebrate our wedding here. It lived up to our expectations and we had an amazing few days at Terrara House.

Did you have a theme for your wedding?

We wouldn’t exactly say that we had a theme, but we did tell our guests to ‘dress to impress’ seeing as though lockdown felt like eternity and we all needed a good excuse to celebrate and party. We had soft pastel flowers, white parasols (which we needed to replace with white umbrellas due to rain), and a beautiful floral arch which sat between the long low hedges of the property. We had a clear roofed marquee lined with fairy lights and a custom bar from White Top Venues.

What was your menu on the night?

We were so impressed with the food at our wedding. With the help of Terrara House, we organised freshly shucked oysters from Jim Wild Oysters as part of the canapes served from Orchard Catering (smoked brisket sliders with chimmichuri and red slaw; Tartlet of kale pistachio pesto, goats curd and cherry tomato; Smoked rainbow trout betel leaf, mieng kumm and diced lime).

For our reception, we opted for share plates which suited the long tables at our reception.

  • Entrees: Charred octopus, romesco and harissa; Broccoli edamame tartare wonton and black dukkha.

  • Mains: Lamb shoulder, mint salsa verde; Whole roasted snapper, local olives, fennel, citrus butter.

  • Sides: Harissa baked pumpkin, dehydrated citrus and romesco; Triple cooked potatoes, tapenade and herbs; Shiso leaf, nashi pear and gran padano with soy mustard dressing

  • Dessert: Sour cherry chocolate brownie with cherry jam and chocolate mousse; Soy panna cotta with strawberry granita and dehydrated raspberry.

What was your favourite part of your ceremony?

Jonathan says “Watching Jacque walk out of the house and down the aisle along with saying our own vows.”
Jacqueline says “Peering out of the house, I could see all our friends, family and Jonathan waiting for me, I was so excited! I just couldn’t wait to walk down the aisle. Meeting my dad on the lawn to walk me to the man of my dreams was a very special moment which I will always remember. Sharing our vows in front of our nearest and dearest was a very emotional moment – I couldn’t stop crying. But the most special part of the day for me, was walking hand in hand down the aisle with Jonathan as husband and wife, looking out towards our families and friends - we just felt so loved!”

What did you love about your reception?

The amount of love and laughter in the room was certainly felt. It was so much fun to be back on a dance floor with live music and beyond amazing to be able to celebrate with our families and friends. Good food, good drinks and good company made sharing old memories special and making new memories unforgettable.

How many people attended your wedding?

85 of our closest family and friends attended our wedding in person and some friends and family viewed the ceremony via live stream.

What was your favourite location in Terrara House & The Estate and why?

Downstairs dining and lounge rooms were good in the house as they were quite social, the area with the chess board was a nice spot and where we had our canapes

Did you plan a post wedding ‘honeymoon’ celebration and if so, what experience did you plan?

We are booked to visit the Maldives over Easter

What is your advice for any future couples planning their wedding?

Don’t expect all the planning to be done until one or two days before the wedding. Once it is done though try and relax and enjoy the occasion
