Olivia & Steven

How did you and your partner meet?

We met through our best friends (Tess- maid of honour & Mike- Best man). Tess and Mike are siblings. The first time we met was at Tess’ 21st birthday dinner where we were instantly drawn to each other.

How did you or partner propose?

Steve: It was Saturday, the 18th of December 2021. I orchestrated a plan that involved getting Liv’s sisters, Maddie and Ellie to convince her to go for a hike to the cliffs near us (which was hard to do considering Liv doesn’t really like hikes). While this was happening Tess and I went to the exact spot an hour before to set up a camera and wait for her to reach the spot with the girls. When she arrived at the designated spot, Steve organised for Tess, Ellie and Mads to say a little speech about 3 key stages of our relationship. Tess, would detail the first time we met, Ellie would talk about the first time we said “I love you” and Mads would finish off with the moment I knew I wanted to propose. I  organised for the 3 girls to be in 3 different spots leading to the corner I was waiting in, after each one of finished they would Lead liv to the next stage and eventually be handed off to me who was waiting around the corner. It was so emotional and perfect.

Why did you choose to have your wedding at Terrara House?

We fell In love with Terrara House the first time we visited. The property speaks for itself. We absolutely loved the vibe- Its grand, luxurious and aesthetically, was exactly what we had envisioned for our black tie wedding.

Did you have a theme for your wedding?

Our colour theme was black & white which we incorporated all throughout our wedding. The stationary, signage, florals & bridesmaid/groomsman outfits were all these colours.

What was your menu on the night?

We had an alternate menu, catered by Duck Duck Goose catering. Entrees was either pan fried potato gnocchi w/ rich tomato passata or Kingfish ceviche- currarong kingfish marinated in coconut & lime w/ avocado salsa

Mains was an eye fillet w/ quince glaze, taleggio, rosemary potatoes & jus or Barramundi fillet w/ green bean, spicy tomato salsa & herb potatoes.

What was your favourite part of your ceremony?

Steve: The whole thing.

Olivia: Definitely walking down the aisle and seeing Steve at the end. He was so emotional, which made everyone there emotional. It was just the best feeling- I was so nervous but I just focused on him the whole time walking down which calmed me alot.

What did you love about your reception?

Steve: I loved entering into the reception, the energy and atmosphere was perfect. Everyone did a fireball shot as we entered which was such a fun way to start our reception.

Olivia: My favourite party of the reception was the dance floor- we had plenty of time to dance which is exactly what I wanted. Our singers were amazing and brought the best vibes which brought everyone to the DF.

How many people attended your wedding?

We had 119 guests.

What was your favourite location in Terrara House & The Estate and why?

Steve: The chess garden was my favourite location.

Olivia: This is so hard to choose! I loved looking at all the little details in each room of the house- the master bedroom was my favourite. I also loved the salon, we got ready in here and it was just divine- so luxe and relaxing.

Did you plan a post wedding ‘honeymoon’ celebration and if so, what experience did you plan?

We planned a ‘minimoon’ post wedding in Hayman Island, Whitsundays. We stayed here for three nights and it was just perfect. The most amazing time to just reflect on our day, look at photos and chat about all the details. We are going to Europe in August for our main honeymoon, but going to Hayman Island straight after the wedding was incredible- I would definitely tell future couples to try and go away straight after the wedding (or that week).

What is your advice for any future couples planning their wedding?

Olivia: Try and get planning early- the earlier, the better! You will thank yourself when you’re close to the wedding day and feel like you have SO much to do. It can be overwhelming and things might not always go your way but just try not to sweat the small stuff. It’s important to continue to remind yourself of the purpose of this day, you are marrying the love of your life, the little things that go wrong don’t matter!

Steve: Listen, be present & help as much as you can.
