Reception Location

We held cocktail hour on the front law, and reception in the beautiful marquee.

How did you and your partner meet?

6 years ago James and I were introduced by mutual friends – a good friend of mine who I’ve known for more than 20 years thought we’d be a good match, as James was good friends with her now husband (we both got married in the same year!)

How did you or partner propose?

We were in India, staying at a beautiful hotel in the middle of a lake where you could only get to by boat, called Lake Palace Hotel Udaipur. After a day of touring the city with a ring in his pocket, James decided to wait until a quiet moment at the hotel together around sunset. The next day we met his family in Kerela and got to celebrate the following week!

What was your favourite part of your ceremony?

I loved having close friends and family play a role – both of our mothers did readings, our bridal parties alongside us and besties signing the marriage certificate.

What did you love about your reception?

The dance floor went off and very early! We had an amazing band, and our MC (James’ good friend) got everyone up off their seats all night long.

What is your advice for any future couples planning their wedding?

Try and enjoy the process! It can be easy to get bogged down in the detail and think of it as a chore.
